Jeanette M. Piper

Jeanette M. Piper, age 95, of Mount Carroll, Illinois, died on Sunday, August 1, 2010 at the Carroll County Good Samaritan Nursing Center, Mount Carroll. Cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 22, 2010 at the United Methodist Church, Mount Carroll with Reverend Mark Harkness officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Mount Carroll. Memorials may be given to the United Methodist Church or the Carroll County Good Samaritan Nursing Center, Mount Carroll. Jeanette was born on June 18, 1915, the daughter of Walter and Ella (Boycks) Murphy in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. She attended Stockton High School and graduated with the Class of 1933. Jeanette married Lowell C. Teeter in 1936 and later married Cecil G. Piper on June 14, 1969. Cecil died on January 6, 2002 in McAllen, Texas.

Jeanette worked as a nurse, receptionist and a bookkeeper for her future husband, Dr. Cecil G. Piper in Mount Carroll. After they were married, Jeanette and Cecil enjoyed traveling, playing golf and wintering at their home in Texas. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Mount Carroll and was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Most of all, Jeanette cherished spending time with her family and playing Bridge with friends.

Jeanette will be dearly missed by her children, Marcia Roberts of Princeton, Illinois and Norman (Carmelita) Teeter of Memphis, Tennessee; four step-children, Patricia (Loren) Golden of West Dundee, Illinois, Allen (Connie) Piper of Thornton, Colorado, William (Leigh Anne) Piper of Lanark, Illinois and Russell (Cheri) Piper of Mount Carroll; three grandchildren, Christopher (Christine) Roberts, Leslie (Marc) Beauchamp and John Roberts; eleven step-grandchildren, Julie (Jim) Dubensky, Joshua and Zachary Golden, , Jeremy (Paige) Piper, Stephanie (J.C.) Vega, Kelly (Nikki) Piper, Melissa (Liz Bourland) Piper, Ashley (Justin) Moore, Benjamin, William “Will”, and Allen Piper; nine great grandchildren, Courtney, Lindsey, Sean and Kyle Roberts, Finneas Dubensky, Samantha Huffar, Austin Piper, Cole Piper and Jayden Vega; one great-great grandson, Austin; two brothers, Bud (Virginia) Murphy of Stockton, Illinois and Tom (Colleen) Murphy of Bradenton, Florida.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil; two sisters, Lucille Kensinger and Ethel Barthel; and one brother, David Murphy.

Rev. Orville E. Cole

Rev. Orville E. Cole, 92 yrs. old, formerly of Lanark, passed away on Tuesday, Aug.10,,2010 in his East Peoria home.

He was born on January 30, 1918 in Shelby County, Illinois, a son of Edward and Mable (Longenbach) Cole .

Orville and Georgina Wohrley were married on June 16, 1946 at the United Methodist Church in Fenton, Il. They enjoyed 52 years sharing life, faith, and ministry. She died on March 27, 1999.

He served as Pastor for Parkersburg, Westfield, Elkhorn at Polo, Reynolds at Ashton, Red Oak at Walnut, Putnum County Parish (Magnolia and Granville),and Lanark United Methodist Church from l974 until retiring in l983. After retiring, he served the Fairhaven Church near Chadwick for six years.

Surviving are his daughter: Mary (Rev.Michael) Robison of East Peoria,four grandchildren Matthew (Becky) Robison, and Mark Robison, both of East Peoria, Megan (Scott ) Oetgen of Peoria Heights and Maryn (Brian) Bevard of Peoria, four great grandchildren, Emma, Kali, and Cole Robison and Ezekial Bevard, whom he dearly loved. He was very excited by the news that one more little girl would be here in November. Also surviving are Jeanette (Arlyn) Bush of Prophetstown and several nieces and nephews from the Cole family.

Preceding him in addition to his wife, were his parents, four brothers, Ronald, Aubrey, Lloyd, and Claude Cole, and one sister, Stella Jordan.

Services will be on Saturday, August 14, 20l0 at Noon at the Lanark United Methodist Church with Rev. Kathryn Ling, Rev. Rod Dye and Rev. Paul Judd officiating. Interment will be in Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling. Friends may call at the church from l0 :00 A.M. until the time of service. A memorial has been established in his memory for the Lanark United Methodist Church. Arrangements by the Russell-Frank Funeral Home in Lanark.

Lois R. Russell

Lois R. Russell, age 91, passed away on Monday August 9, 2010 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport, IL. She was born on December 5, 1918 in Shannon, IL to Archie and Orelda J. (Brandt) Bicksler.

She married Leo B. Russell on October 5, 1935 in Dixon, IL. Lois attended the Lena Evangelical Free Church. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. She hosted “Sisters in the Lord” bible study at the Lena Retreat for a number of years and was an active participant of the Friendship Center in Lena.

Lois is survived by a son- Roger (Kay) Russell of Lena, IL; 3 grandchildren- Brandon (Jessica) of Plainview, MN, Jacey (Justin) London of Roscoe, IL and Brock “B.J.” (Jennifer) of Lafayette, IN; 5 great-grandchildren- Eleanor, Ireland, and Ashlen Russell, and Trey and Maya London; 3 brothers- Russell Bicksler of Freeport, Don (Betty) Bicksler of Mt. Morris, IL and Wayne (Donna) Bicksler of Freeport; 2 Sisters- Ethyl Svanda and Dorothy (Tom) Mahon both of Byron; 2 sisters-in-laws- Leatrice Bicksler of Leaf River, IL and Alta Wehmeyer of Brookville, IL.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo, on January 6, 1995 and a brother Kenny Bicksler.

Funeral will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, August, 14, 2010 at the Lena Evangelical Free Church. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. till time of service on Saturday at the Lena Evangelical Free Church. Officiating will be Dennis Bicksler Burial will take place at Grandview Cemetery. Keith P. Dauphin

Keith P. Dauphin, of Savanna, Illinois died Monday, August 9, 2010, in his home as the result of a heart attack. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 13, 2010, at the Law – Jones Funeral Home in Savanna. A private family graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2010. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Keith’s honor.

Shirley Elizabeth Ferrell

Shirley Elizabeth Ferrell, age 89, of Hanover, Illinois died Friday, August 13, 2010, at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Mount Carroll, Illinois. A visitation will be from 5 until 8:00 p.m. Monday, Aug. 16, at the Law-Jones Funeral Home in Hanover. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17, at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Hanover, followed by burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Hanover. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. A special thank you to the entire staff at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Mt. Carroll for the compassionate care that was bestowed upon Shirley.

Donna Meyer

Donna Meyer, age 71, of Savanna, Illinois passed away peacefully at home in the early morning hours of Friday, August 13, 2010. She had been under the compassionate care of her husband and Mercy Hospice. A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church, Savanna with Reverend Larry Thomson officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 18, 2010 from 12:00 noon till the time of the service.

Glenn Bonjour

Glenn Bonjour, age 89, of Savanna, Illinois, died Saturday, August 14, 2010. The funeral service will be held on Friday, August 20, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Savanna, with Reverend Larry Thomson officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by the Savanna V.F.W. Post # 2223. Burial will be in the Savanna Township Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 19, 2010 from 4 to 7:00 p.m. also at the church. Memorials may be directed to the Savanna First United Methodist Church.
