Wilbur Nicol Turns 90 Years Young

Wilbur Nicol of Shannon will celebrate his 90th birthday on October 3, 2010.

He was born and raised in Arenzville, IL and married Frances Wilson in 1940. They moved to Carroll County with the Nicol Sand Co. in Savanna.

He served in the U.S. Navy; farmed in Mount Carroll; owned and operated Carroll Feed Service in Mt. Carroll and Shannon; ShanAgra Service and The Trading Post in Shannon.

Wilbur has three children. Kirby of California; Jan (Marge) Nicol, Shannon and Susan, deceased. His wife died in 1992.

In November of 1996 he married Vivian Kromm. His family grew to include Joyce (Jon) Dinges, Mendota; Dean deceased (Linda) Kromm, Shannon; Jean (Barry) Myers, Lake Carroll; LeRoy (Nancy) Kromm, California; grandchildren; great and great-great grandchildren.

Family, friends and neighbors are invited to help us celebrate at an Open House on Sunday, October 3, 2010 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Wesley Chapel, Hickory Street, Shannon, IL.

Finks Welcome New Daughter

Peter and JorjAnn Fink of Lanark welcome a new daughter, Olivia Roese Fink, born September 12, 2010 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport, IL. Olivia joins a brother, Zachary at home. Grandparents are Rhoda and the late Ted Fink of Lanark and Jack and Mary Stayner of Stockton.

Hollewells Celebrate 65 Years

Harlan and Wilma Hollewell of Milledgeville will be observing their 65th wedding anniversary on September 26, 2010. They have farmed in the Milledgeville area, also operated Hollewell Ag Center in Lanark. Since retirement they both volunteer at CGH Medical Center in Sterling. Harlan Hollewell and Wilma Deets were married on September 26, 1945 in the Milledgeville Brethren Church. Rev. St. Claire Benshoff officiated. They have a son Steven (Anita) Hollewell of Lanark, a daughter, Professor Joan (Dr. Franklin) Forman of Wheaton. Their family also includes 3 grandchildren, Sarah (Glenn) Black, Ashland, Ohio; Aaron Hollewell, Newman, Georgia; Franz (Emily) Forman, Peoria, Arizona and 3 great grandchildren, Madeline, Katherine and Jackson Forman, Peoria, Arizona.
